Make your own tortilla pizza

You can’t have pizza without some tomatoes! And if you’ve been growing your own cherry tomatoes by following our planting activity, here’s a fun way to use your home-grown ingredients

To get started, you’ll need:

  • Soft flour tortillas
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Plus, any other toppings you want like chicken, onions, peppers, or spinach

Step 1: Preparing your ingredients

  • Before you start prepping, get an adult to help you preheat the oven to 200 degrees C
  • Place your tortilla on a baking tray and brush it with the olive oil, add it to the preheated over for 3 minutes until golden
  • Start cutting up your ingredients – cut your cherry tomatoes in half
  • Once the tortilla is ready, remove it and add a layer of tomato sauce

Step 2: Get creative

  • Now it’s time to create your perfect pizza with all your favourite ingredients – make sure they’re evenly spread out
  • Top off your pizza by placing your home-grown cherry tomatoes, then sprinkle your pizza with some mozzarella cheese

Step 3: Cooking

  • Bake your tortilla pizza in the preheated oven for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is crispy
  • You can then slice it and serve it up to your family – or keep it all to yourself!
