Sprouting Seedling Craft

Create your very own seedling that sprouts from the soil with this fun craft

sprouting seedling craft materials

Before getting started, you’ll need:

  • Paper plate
  • Green card
  • Paint (brown, blue, green, and white)
  • Lollipop stick
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • A pompom, sponge, or cotton wool ball

Let’s get started:

  1. First, paint your lollipop stick green and leave it to dry
  2. While your lollipop stick is drying, paint the bottom third of your paper plate brown. This will be the soil
  3. Paint the rest of your paper plate blue. This will be the sky. If your blue paint is dark, lighten it up by mixing it with some white paint
  4. Next, take your pompom, sponge, or cotton wool ball and dip it in white paint. Dab it onto the sky to make some fluffy clouds. Let it dry

5. Whilst you wait for your plate to dry, cut two small leaf shapes from your green card and glue them to the end of your lollipop stick. This is your seedling

6. You might need an adult to help with this next step. Using scissors, cut a small slit in the middle of the plate, where the soil and sky meet. This should be just wide enough for your lollipop stick to fit through. Make sure you don’t cut your plate in two!

7. Push your lollipop stick through the gap. You can now make your seedling sprouting up from the soil by pushing the craft stick up and down!
