Spring tree craft

Spring tree craft

With spring is in full swing, it’s the perfect time to spot beautiful pink and white trees, like the cherry blossom, hawthorn, and crab apple. To celebrate the blooming season, we’re going to create our very own blossoming spring tree using a recycled cardboard tube and some tissue paper

To get started you'll need:

  • Scissors

  • Cardboard tube

  • Brown paint

  • Paint brush

  • Shallow tray or plate

  • Pink and white tissue paper/crepe paper

  • Whiteglue

Let's get started

Step 1:

First, paint your entire tube brown like the trunk of a tree. Make sure to also paint inside the top of the tube (about 1/3 of the way down) – this will become your branches. Let the paint dry

Step 2:

After your tube is dry, use scissors to carefully make several cuts from the top of the tube. Stop cutting when you reach about 1/3 of the way down. The cuts should be roughly finger-width apart, but they don’t have to be perfect. Take your time and keep checking as you cut to make sure you aren't cutting too far

Step 3:

Gently pull down and open out the pieces you have just cut. These will be your branches. Now, you should have a tree shape. If you feel your branches are a little short, cut more of your tube to make them longer

Step 4:

Next, scrunch and roll small pieces of pink and white tissue paper or crepe paper. These will be your spring blossoms

Step 5:

Pour some glue onto a tray or plate and lightly dip your blossoms into the glue. Then, stick them onto your branches. Make sure to add blossoms to both sides of your branches to make your tree as full as possible. Allow to dry

Now, you should have a finished tree full of beautiful blossoms to decorate your home this spring
