What you’ll need:
A container to collect flowers in
A pile of large, heavy books
Plainpaper
Kitchen roll or paper towels
Clear contact paper, self-adhesive
Scissors
Embroideryhoops
Some string for hanging
Preparing your flowers
Step 1:
About a week before you make your suncatchers, collect your flowers for pressing. You can cut these from your garden or local green space. Always make sure you have permission and be careful not to take too many!
Step 2:
Make sure your flowers are totally dry before laying them onto a sheet of plain paper, on top of one of your books. Take another piece of plain paper and lay it over the top. Then places a pile of books on top of this to weigh your flowers down. After about a week, your lowers should be pressed and ready to use!

Step 3:
Place a piece of contact paper on a table, sticky side up. Place your embroidery hoop on top. Delicately arrange your pressed flowers inside the hoop onto the sticky contact paper.
Step 4:
Once you have placed all the flowers, remove the hoop and place another sheet of contact paper on top. Your flowers should now be sandwiched in between two pieces of contact paper. Do your best to remove any air bubbles.
Step 5:
Place the sheet inside your embroidery hoop (you might need a grown-up’s help as this can be fiddly!). Use scissors to trim away the excess contact paper around the edges.
Step 6:
Use your string to tie a loop from the top
of your embroidery hoop and hang your suncatcher in a place where it can catch lots of light!
