3D paper tomatoes

We all love tomatoes, but they never seem to last long enough – now you can make a 3D tomato that’ll last forever! You’ll need to use scissors, so make sure to ask an adult to help

For this activity, you’ll need:

  • A piece of red A4 card

  • Scissors

  • Double-sided tape or glue

  • Two green pipe cleaners

Let’s get started:

Step 1:

Cut your piece of card in half down the middle to create two pieces of A5 card

Step 2:

Cut the two pieces of card into eight strips of the same width. You can measure the widths or fold each piece of card in half and then in half again

Step 3:

Using tape or glue, stick four strips of card together at one end to form an equally shaped cross (it should look like a plus sign +). Repeat this again with the other four strips

Step 4:

Place one cross diagonally on top of the other to form an eight-pointed star. Next, you can curve the strips up and attach them to each other with glue or tape. It’s easier if you work your way around the shape attaching opposite sides

Step 5:

Fold a pipe cleaner in half and cut it with the scissors. Cut the pieces in half again to make leaves

Step 6:

Loop another pipe cleaner through the paper and twist the two ends at the top to make
a stalk. You can now twist the ends of your “leaves” on to the stalk to secure them. Alternatively, you can use a dot of glue to secure them in place
