Violas come in a wide range of colours, from soft pastels to bold bright hues, allowing you to create a wreath that complements your style. Their dainty size will fit perfectly amongst other foliage, and they can withstand cooler temperatures in case of any unexpected spring frosts.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the simple steps in creating a lovely front door viola wreath that will brighten up your entryway or pot displays, or that you can even give as a thoughtful gift to a friend or loved one.

Making a front door wreath

Making a front door wreath: step-by-step guide

Step 1: Start by wrapping the moss around your wicker wreath, then attaching it with fishing wire, garden wire or green twine. Make sure it’s secured night and tightly by wrapping it round 2-3 times, tying a knot to hold in place. Repeat this process until you have a moss base covering your entire wreath.

Step 2: Carry out the same process on your viola plants, wrapping moss around the root end and using your fishing wire or twine to secure. Repeat this process until you have enough flowers to cover your wreath base.

Step 4: Now you can start securing each viola to your wreath, carrying out the same process as above. Wrap your wire or twine around the wreath base to tie your flowers in place.

Step 5: Once you’ve covered your wreath base with flowers, spray the moss with water to keep the base moist so that your violas look fresher for longer. Make sure to not soak the petals directly.
