Little Seedlings competition:

Judging process, entry requirements, criteria and terms & conditions

Entry Criteria:

  • Dobbies is passionate about helping the communities around our stores to enjoy spending time outdoors and get growing and the Little Seedlings Workshops encourage children aged 4-10 years old to learn about plants, wildlife and the environment.
  • 27th May to 4th June is National Children’s Gardening Week and for 2023 we want a child to recommend the topic we will cover at our workshop on 4th June. We welcome entries from those that are Little Seedlings and those who aren’t.
  • The form should be completed by an adult and the young person may contribute with their parent or guardian’s permission.
  • Those completing the form should provide their child’s name, age, topic idea, plus any potential activities for the free workshop.

Judging Criteria:

  • Strength of idea – is the suggested topic seasonally relevant?
  • Fits the age group – does the idea fit with those attending the workshops (4-10 years old)
  • Practicality – does the topic allow for an activity that can be conducted in Dobbies stores?
  • Sustainability – is the topic related to sustainability?
  • Any additional points that make the idea stand out?

Scoring system: 4 points – excellent. 3 points – very good. 2 points – good. 1 point – poor. Zero points – unsatisfactory.

Judging Process:

  • All nominations to be reviewed by Marcus Eyles, Horticultural Director at Dobbies Garden Centres, who will assess the submission. Using the scoring system outlined, the winner will be the entrant with the highest number of points. His decision on the winning entries are final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
